Privacy Policy
Wawata (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a wish and goal journal for iPhone and Android. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the app and website.
1. The short version
Wawata stores your wishes, journey steps, reflections, photos, and preferences on your device. We do not operate a cloud backend that reads your journal. We do not sell data, run ads, or use behavioural analytics.
2. Data stored on your device
Depending on how you use the app, local storage may include:
- Your display name and chosen kaitiaki (guardian symbol)
- Wish titles, sparks, milestones, reflections, and progress
- Photos you attach to wishes (saved in the app sandbox)
- Reminder time and appearance preferences
- Encrypted local database contents
This data stays in the app’s private storage unless you export it, share a wish, or use device backup (e.g. iCloud or Google backup when enabled).
3. Data we do not collect
- No account required for core use
- No advertising or analytics SDKs in the journal
- No sale or rental of personal information
- No reading of your wish text on our servers. We do not host your journal.
4. Optional cloud features
If you enable features that sync or sign in (e.g. circles or account sign-in when available), only the data required for that feature is sent to the configured service provider. Those flows are disclosed in-app before you opt in.
5. Subscriptions (Wawata Pro)
Pro is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Payment and billing are handled by Apple or Google. We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status.
- RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase receipts, not your wish content.

6. Export and sharing (Pro)
Pro may let you export a CSV or PDF or share a wish summary via the system share sheet. You choose when and where that data goes. We do not receive copies of exports or shares.
7. Your rights & controls
- Delete everything: Settings → erase all wishes removes journal data from the device.
- Export: Pro users can export via Settings (CSV / PDF).
- Uninstall: Removing the app deletes local app data from the device.

If you are in the EU/UK or other regions with privacy laws, you may have additional rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability). Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Children
Wawata is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change and, for material updates, we will surface notice in the app where practical.
