Terms of Use
By downloading, accessing, or using Wawata (the “app”) or this website, you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. The service
Wawata is a personal wish and journey journal provided for individual, non-commercial use on iPhone and Android. The app helps you record wishes, steps, and reflections locally on your device.
2. Not professional advice
Wawata is a notebook, not therapy, coaching, medical, or financial advice. If you are in distress, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services in your region.
3. Your content
You retain ownership of the text, photos, and other material you create in the app (“Your Content”). We do not claim ownership of Your Content. Because the journal is stored locally, you are responsible for backups and device security.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for unlawful purposes
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except where law permits
- Interfere with the app’s operation or security
- Misrepresent your identity when using optional sign-in features
5. Free and Pro
Wawata offers a free tier and an optional Wawata Pro subscription.
- Free: Up to three wishes, Whero accent colour, core journal features without wish photos.
- Pro: Unlimited wishes, all seven accent colours (Whero, Kōwhai, Pounamu, Māwhero, Kikorangi, Karaka, Parauri), wish photos, Journey Insights, wish sharing, and CSV/PDF export as described in the app at time of purchase.
Feature sets may evolve; material reductions to paid features will be communicated in-app where practical.
6. Subscriptions & billing
- Pro is billed through your Apple ID (App Store) or Google account (Google Play), depending on your device.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Manage or cancel in your device’s subscription settings (App Store or Google Play).
- Refunds follow the store’s policies (Apple or Google).
- Free trials, if offered, convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends.
7. Intellectual property
The Wawata name, branding, app design, and software are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Māori cultural elements are used with respect; guardians and colour names reference te ao Māori symbolism as described in-app.
8. Disclaimer
THE APP AND WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR PRO IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR USD $50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be noted in-app or on this page.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes should first be raised by email; courts in Türkiye shall have jurisdiction where mandatory local law does not require otherwise.
